Palm Sunday – It’s Prophetic Significance

Palm Sunday is an important day in the Christian Calendar. Churches globally celebrated it today as the start of religious observances during the Holy Week, leading up the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Evidence from the Book of Revelation agrees with the Book of Daniel about the End Times

The Book of Revelation gives us an overview of world events from the time period of John the Apostle (Author) to the culmination of history as we know it. He is instructed to write down the revelation given to him by the Lord in three sections.

“Write the things which you have seen,
and the things which are,
and the things which will take place after this.”
Revelation 1:19

There Are Essential Differences Between the First and Second Phases of Christ’s Return

Scriptures hints at two phases of the Lord’s Return

“As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately.
“Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen,
and what will be the sign of your coming
and of the end of the age?”
— Matthew 24:3″

There are many signs prophesied in the Bible as happening prior to the Return of Jesus Christ. Most of them, however, have to do with the second phase of Christ’s Return when “every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2.11). The Rapture takes place seven years before the reign of antiChrist and there are no specific signs prophesied. All the signs point to the nearness of this event. It could happen at any time.

The Bible Teaches that the Church Age is Coming to a Close

God’s Purpose for Israel

God chose the Nation of Israel for a very specific reason as His Special People.

“The LORD did not set His affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath He swore to your forefathers that He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.”
Deuteronomy 7:7-9 (NIV)

His Divine Purpose was that Israel would be a showpiece for the world, bringing men, women and children from a thousand generations into His Eternal Kingdom. God told Abraham that “in you ALL THE FAMILIES of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3).
