Suicide Is Never A Solution

Suicide Is Never A Solution

“Then his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die! But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?  In all this Job did not sin with his lips.” (Job 2:9,10)

Curse God and die! “Commit suicide, Job,” this bitter, disillusioned woman told her husband.

His wealth, health and home were gone. His precious children were all dead. What was there left to live for?

Suicide is never a solution. This side of eternity, there is still opportunity for circumstances to change and God to intervene. Once we leave this world, that opportunity is gone forever. We cement our situation.

Does that mean Christians who commit suicide are lost eternally? No! Those who genuinely belong to the Lord will be with Him forever.

But what it does mean is that, along with all disobedient Christians, believers who take this route will have to stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and give an account of their actions (Rom. 14:10, 2 Cor. 5:10).

Rewards and eternal ministries will be seriously affected and we will grieve deeply that we threw away so much for so little. (Matt. 16:27).

Job stood firm when the storm came. He knew that the Lord is sovereign. (Psalm 29:10).
