Cindy wishes she was computer literate because that way she could get a lot more of my attention! (She gets most of it – just wants ALL of it).

P.S. She sure is loved. Good things she’s not spoiled too….

The Right Food Makes Such A Difference To My Dog. More..

Posted By: Val on July 21, 2011 at 7:30 am

Muffin, the Labrador, eats anything but little Cindy, the Toy Pom, suffers from all sorts of allergies. It took us a while to discover that one of the main culprits was a popular brand of dog biscuits. It made her skin red and irritable and set her ears on fire.

I changed her diet a few times under the Vet’s direction and finally found a suitable brand of dog food that agrees with her metabolism perfectly – the expensive, but famous Eukenuba. (Fortunately she’s a LITTLE dog!). Also found some vegetarian dog biscuits without additives and Cindy is a changed dog. Full of bounce, fun and more delightful than ever.

It was all about food.

Could that be why some Christians are so miserable? Are they “eating” the wrong kind of spiritual food? God’s diet presented in book form and known as The Bible is still the best. And not nearly as expensive!

Home Dog Training Secrets Review

Posted By: Val on July 5, 2011 at 10:50 am

Owning a dog can be one of the greatest joys in life – but only if your dog is well behaved. As much comfort and companionship that comes from owning a dog, there can be a lot of frustration and problems if your dog is a troublemaker.

If you’ve ever had a dog that misbehaves you know the anger and helplessness you feel when your dog:

- Tears up the furniture when you are away during the day.

- Barks endlessly into the night keeping you and your family awake.

- Acts aggressive toward people and other dogs while outdoors.

- Begs for food and attention while you are eating dinner.

The list of behavioral problems goes on and on – and they can all make for a bad pet owning experience.

There are many factors that can go into having a “bad” dog – but fortunately there is a simple solution to virtually all dog behavior problems. Having a well trained dog IS within your reach and best of all you can take steps in your own home to train your dog and have a better pet.

Most people avoid formally training their dogs, to their detriment. Dogs are trainable creatures – no matter what their age – and many dog owners miss out on the incredible bond that can exist between a dog and its human master.

Home Dog Training Secrets can give you the insight, guidance and specific steps that you can use to train your own dog, in your own home. Many people think that they need to hire a professional and pay thousands of dollars in order to have a well behaved dog, but nothing could be further from the truth!

Even if you have a tough relationship with your dog right now – you’re the best person to train him or her! You’re the one who spend time with your dog. You’re the one that feeds your pet. You’re the one that’s there. That gives you expert level knowledge about your specific pet – and positions you as the best trainer in the world for your specific dog.

All you need are the step by step instructions that you’ll find in Home Dog Training Secrets.

There are lots of dog training products out there on the market – it’s true – but you won’t find anything as comprehensive and complete as this program.

You’ll learn about the inner workings of your dog’s mind so you’ll know exactly how to trigger their innate instincts and thousands of years of tendencies so you can create the dog you’ve always wanted.

Dogs learn in a very specific fashion – and that’s something that many home dog training products miss out on. Without helping you understand the way that your dog thinks, you’re left with a bunch of instructions and tactics but no real understanding of how you can reach out to your dog and get the results that you want.

The key difference between this program and others is that it helps you not only understand the *what* of dog training but the *why* as well. When you understand the why, you’ll be able to adapt the techniques specifically for your dog and your unique situation.

The foundation of good dog training is creating a strong relationship with your dog, and Home Dog Training Secrets provides you with dozens of ways that you can spend time bonding and connecting with your dog. The more you two bond on this level and communicate, the more success you’ll have with your training.

By taking advantage of your dog’s wolf pack instincts and using the tips and techniques in this guide, you’ll be able to reverse bad behavior and create a better pet. You’ll learn keys to praising your dog, training with treats, creating rituals that your dog will come to expect and how to use a leash in the proper way.

In addition to these basics of dog care, you’ll also learn advanced training techniques that you can use with your dog. You can train your dog to go to the bathroom on command – which is a terrific technique to use if you only have a limited time to let your dog relieve itself or you need to get back inside fast. You’ll also learn the keys to teaching your dog to wait at the door – this alone can prevent one of the biggest problems people have when visitors arrive at the door. Another advanced technique is getting your dog to take their medicine – which can be lifesaving if your dog has a serious medical condition.

In addition, you’ll get insights on the most important dog health issues – picking a vet and selecting the right foods for your dog. Far too few pet owners understand the importance of feeding your animal the right food and having the right medical care. It can make the difference between having your best friend around for 10 years and having it around for 15 years. The health training manual also includes important information on grooming your dog and making its coat shiny, healthy and more lusterous.

All this and more is covered in the 16 unique training manuals. You’ll learn the secrets to selecting the right toys for your dog and how to get your dog to behave around children. You’ll also learn how you can go on a “stress free” vacation with your dog without worrying about behavior problems while you’re out and about.

It doesn’t matter what type of problem, what type of breed or how old your dog is – your dog IS trainable. Using the step by step instructions in this course will take you from frustrated dog owner to master in charge of his pet.

Owning a dog is a true joy – and with this course you’ll have all of the key components that you need to have a happy, healthy and obedient dog.

There is so much more to owning a dog than giving it food and shelter – with this course you’ll be able to get the specific skills that you need to have the pet you’ve always wanted.

Cindy Loves Being Loved

Posted By: Val on June 25, 2011 at 6:08 pm

Well, who doesn’t? My favourite thing is to crouch down and watch her run full tilt into my arms with great enthusiasm. She won’t do that for anybody else, just me. That makes me feel really special.

She doesn’t do it for treats. Simply to be loved. (Not that she doesn’t get a lot of love. Good thing she’s not spoilt too….. :) )

Cindy and me

Cindy and Me

I was thinking the other day that the Lord must love it too when we run into His arms. Not wanting anything, just to share a precious moment with Him.

Naming Your New Puppy

Posted By: Val on April 22, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Naming your new puppy isn’t half as easy as it sounds! There are so many choices.

The first of our Toy Poms was Micky. He was succeeded by Nicky. Then came the black Labrador named Bonnie, followed by another gorgeous Pom named Candy (because she was such a sweet thing) and another Labbie named Muffin. (Her name suits her personality, even if she is a huge Black 40 kg dog. She thinks she’s a Toy Pom).

Cindy followed after my lovely Candy passed on. I agonized over her name for days until I found this super BIG Book of Puppy Names. Decision made and it was such fun going through all those names!

S8000129 Did you call my name???

In case you would like your own copy of the BIG Book of Puppy Names, here’s a link for you:

Want Some Wise Advice From A Furry Friend?

Posted By: Val on March 24, 2011 at 2:29 pm

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without alcohol,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

…Then You Are Probably ………

The Family Dog!

Clever Pooches Foil Burglar

Posted By: Val on May 5, 2010 at 10:48 pm

In the early hours of this morning, a burglar tried to get into our house. The burglar guards were too strong, so he tried to hook whatever he could find (unsuccessfully) through the window. Our brave pooches went into High Gear.

“There’s a burglar! There’s a burglar!,” yapped the little Toy Pom.

“WHERE’S THE BURGLAR? WHERE’S THE BURGLAR?” growled the Black Labbie.

The chap took off at top speed and disappeared back over our six-foot fence.

My Doggie Pals make great Burglar Alarms!

Rufus Takes Charge

Posted By: Val on March 30, 2010 at 10:14 am

I just read the most delightful book called Rufus Takes Charge by Peter Erikson from Cape Town.

It’s a collection of humorous episodes about a Pavement Special called Rufus and his Incorrigible owner, Oupa. Absolutely enjoyable. If you are a Dog Lover, you will enjoy this thoroughly. I couldn’t put it down and read the book in one sitting.

Muffin and Cindy come nowhere near in terms of being so funny and mischievous!

Just thought I would share that with you. I’m not sure where you can get the book, but if you email Peter I am sure he will be able to point you in the right direction.
