When You’ve Tried Everything Else, Remember This: Love Never Fails

Love Is A Powerful Force

“Love never fails” (1 Cor. 13:8).

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. The Bible says it “never fails” to accomplish God’s purposes.

Love has inspired people to the greatest heights and to make the most incredible sacrifices. People have given up money and possessions for love. Kings have given up thrones. Families have stood together against insurmountable odds.

There is a story in the Old Testament about two women in the time of King Solomon of Israel. One of their babies had died and the two women appeared before the king, each claiming the surviving child as their own.
In those days there was no such thing as DNA testing and this man, with his reputation for God-given wisdom, had a flash of inspiration.

“Cut the baby in half,” he said, “and give each woman a piece.”

“Do it,” said the one. “No,” cried the other. “Give it to her. Let the baby live.”

“That’s the real mother,” said King Solomon. “Give her the child.” (1 Kings 3).

Man made in the image of God, is born with a capacity to love. Sadly, that capacity to love was corrupted. Human love at its best is defective. At its worst it has been replaced by lust.

It is only “in Christ” that we find the true source of Love again – the kind of Love that never fails.
