“that He would grant you …” (Eph. 3:16)
Many times we know things in our head, but they don’t really touch our lives until the reality of that knowledge drops eighteen inches into our hearts.
It’s the same with God’s love. God wants us to have more than just a mental concept of His character and nature. As Christians, of course we appreciate His love in some measure. We sing about it. We talk about it. Sometimes we thank Him for it. But how often, when testing comes, do we lose sight of His love?
Often we tend to forget that He is the Source of our joy, the Source of our provision, the Source of all that occurs in our lives and we panic. “Pray for me,” we beg others, unsure that He will answer our own prayers.
Revelation-knowledge of His powerfully sincere love comes from the Father Himself and Paul prays that every Christian might come to that inner knowledge. We should pray that too, for every Christian and ourselves.
A few minutes ago I received an SMS message from a believer who has walked at a distance with the Lord for many years. He granted her revelation-knowledge and she wrote: “I love JESUS. My concepts of Christianity were totally ape. Only now do I really understand.”
That’s what it’s all about.
